Rugby Superstar, Sonny Bill Williams, has made his first trip to Makkah and Madinah after converting to Islam in 2009.
He has taken a break during his off-season to make the sacred Umrah pilgrimage to the Kaabah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The All Black player has taken to social media to broadcast his pilgrimage harnessing the attention of millions across the world, particularly on his Instagram page.
He began his trip with a visit to the city of Madinah, home to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, whereby he gave his greetings to the Prophet and his noble companions. He also spent time sitting and learning with some of the Sheikhs in Madinah.
Williams, who was the first to wear an All Blacks jersey, converted to Islam after being inspired by a Tunisian Muslim family he lived in Southern France. He has since stated that Islam has given him a sense of “happiness”.
May Allah accept his Umrah pilgrimage and make him a means of inspiration for Muslims and non-Muslims across the world.
