Five Cures for diseases of the Heart

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. (Quran 83:14)
As time passes and our sins accumulate, they start forming “Raan” (Black dots) on our hearts. These Black dots cloud our judgment and our conscious becomes numb towards sins… The heart of Islam has a spiritual value and it is our job to keep it clean away from diseases. So, here are five cures for the diseases of the heart:

Reciting the Quran

O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. (Quran 10:57)
Reciting the Quran with a present heart while contemplating its meaning softens your heart and makes you closer to Allah.
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? (Quran 47:24)

Thinking about Allah’s Blessings

And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Quran 16:18)
Take a few moments each day and think about the blessings Allah has bestowed upon you and your loved ones.

Repentance

Return to Allah and ask for forgiveness for your shortcomings.
“ Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” (Quran 2:222)

Take example from the Pious Predecessors

Listen to the stories of the pious predecessors and try to compare yourself to them. Looking up to people that are better than you is a great incentive to become better..
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct – Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. (Quran 9:100)

Make dua’ that Allah cures your heart

The Prophet ﷺ said,
‘Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. “0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience.” (Muslim)
May Allah cure our hearts.
“O Allah, purify us with snow and hail and cold water, O Allah, purify us from sin as a white garment is cleansed of dirt.” (Nasai)
