Six Duaas (supplications) from the Quran
All of us are in need of Allah. It is very important to ask Allah for everything that you need/want. Allah tells Muhammad in the Quran :“And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.” (Quran 2:186)Allah mentions many Duas (Supplication) in the Quran. It is as if He is teaching us the etiquette of asking Him s.w.t for favours. Here are six Duas (supplications) from the Quran:
The dua of Adam to Allah in repentance, after eating from the tree:
“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Quran, 7:23)
Seeking refuge from Shaytaan (Satan):
“My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayatin (devils). And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they may attend (or come near) me.” (Quran 23:97-98)
The Dua of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his followers when they were dealing with the idol worshippers:
” Our Lord! In You (Alone) we put our trust, and to You (Alone) we turn in repentance, and to You (Alone) is (our) final Return” (Quran 60:4)
The Dua of Prophet Musa (Moses) when Allah sent him to confront the Pharaoh:
“O, my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). “And ease my task for me; “And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) “That they understand my speech,” (Quran 20:25-28)
The Dua of Prophet Ayyub (Job) after he suffered from illness for many years
“Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.” (Qur’an 21:83)
A Powerful Dua in the last verses of Surah Al-Baqara
“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (Quran 2:286)
May Allah make us from those who are always in remembrance of Him s.w.t..
