When was the last time you thanked your mother?

We gathered a group of young children to record some heartfelt messages to their mothers. This was their response. As Muslims, kindness and obedience to one’s parents is a crucial part of our faith. God Almighty, Allah, will also constantly implore humanity repeatedly throughout the Quran to show mercy and kindness to our parents, particularly our mothers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would also often highlight and emphasise the importance of looking after one’s parents.
Allah states in the Quran: “And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months.” Quran 46:15 And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], “uff,” and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! Bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood’ ” Quran 17:23 The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also returned a man wishing to engage in a military expedition to his mother, by stating that “Stay with her, because Paradise is at her feet”. Musnad Imam Ahmad A man also came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. Bukhari and Muslim
May Allah bless all our mothers and grant them the Highest of Paradise.
