What are your morals? A key contention against Islam is the seeming misalignment between the morals of Islam and the modern day. This stretches from the ‘hudud’ laws, Islam’s rulings for women and it’s intolerance towards homosexuality.

Is Islam immoral and out of touch with modernity? More fundamentally, how do we, as a society, form morals? Why should one moral claim be taken over another conflicting moral claim? This is at the heart of today’s conversations between the religious and the secular world.

To help us assess this, we are joined by Hamza Tzortzis who is the founder of Sapience Institute which aspires to elevate Islamic discourse through deep intellectual engagement with foundational values of compassion, truth and tolerance. He is a writer, researcher, public speaker and is currently completing his PhD in Philosophy.
