A Great Hero

With his work trip unexpectedly extended, Shaun Oliver decided to take a stroll along the beach at Wollongong Beach, NSW Australia unaware of the tragedy about to take place. Noticing a family in grave danger, with two young children being swept out to sea, and their father struggling to bring two other children, Shaun dove in without hesitation. He managed to bring one child back in with the help of a paramedic and went back out to get the other. Despite reaching and assisting the other child, Shaun was unable to get back, as the rip was too strong. Another passer-by, local surfer Tom Parkinson had to choose between helping Shaun or the child and decided to bring the child back in. By the time he turned back, Shaun was already gone. Shaun leaves behind a wife, his ‘childhood sweetheart’, and three children. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help his family, with over $270,000 already being raised. Donate whatever you can to help the family of this hero.
