In this documentary, OnePath Network journeys deep into the Australian outback to uncover a little-known chapter of Australia’s Islamic history. Our journey takes us to Broken Hill, home to one of the oldest surviving mosques in regional Australia, built by Muslim cameleers in the late 1800s. Practising Islam far from home, they crossed the outback carrying supplies that helped connect some of Australia’s most remote regions. Living and working on Indigenous land, they established mosques and communities that quietly became part of Australia’s foundation. The mosque stands as proof that Muslims were not visitors here, they became part of the land’s story.
