Living Muslim presents a hilarious new reminder that sheds light on the importance of clarifying any situation before jumping to conclusions.
The video is based off an authentic narration of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who is narrated to have said:
“Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales. And do not look for the faults of others and do not spy, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert (cut your relation with) one another, and do not hate one another; and O Allah’s worshipers! Be brothers (as Allah has ordered you!”).
Sahih Bukhari
As Muslims we should always avoid suspicious negative thoughts about others and always look to clarify a situation before casting judgement.
One of the pious predecessors would say:
“If I see someone with alcohol dripping from his beard, then I’ll say perhaps it spilled on him. And if I see him on top of a mountain saying, ‘I am your Lord most high’ (أنا ربكم الأعلى), then I’ll say he’s reciting a verse from the Quran.”
We should also avoid actively seeking out faults in our brothers as depicted in the video. What’s even worse is broadcasting a sin we may have seen them commit in private.
