Before you share, verify.<\/span><\/h1>\nBefore you share that next news story before you post a status about the latest gossip before you even like someone\u2019s post alleging a major incident.<\/span>\n\nYou need to do this one important thing, the step that most of us, unfortunately, seem to forget. Be sure to Verify your information, Check your sources, make sure what you\u2019re sharing is actually true before you help spread such information. <\/span>\n\nIn this age of social media, and with the increase of \u201cfake news\u201d and celebrity gossip, this advice has never been more important. <\/span>\n\nWe must always learn to fact-check our news articles and sources, even if we feel there is a\u00a0benefit in such posts, even if it\u2019s something that is Islamic or virtuous, first make sure it\u2019s true.<\/span>\n\nWhy is it in our quest to be the first to report the latest incident or to get the most likes or shares, we, unfortunately, forget that we could be responsible for sharing lies and in turn be gaining a whole lot of sins at the very same time.<\/span>\n
Allah clearly warns us against such practices in the Quran, when He states:<\/span>\n\nO you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, with news, \u00a0investigate, verify the news, so that you do not harm people unknowingly, and become, over what you have done, regretful.<\/span><\/i>\n\nQuran 49:6<\/i><\/strong>\n\nThe Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa also warned us: <\/span>\n\n\u0639\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u0623\u064e\u0628\u0650\u064a \u0647\u064f\u0631\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0629\u064e \u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0642\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e \u0631\u064e\u0633\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u0650 \u0635\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0647\u064f \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0647\u0650 \u0648\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0651\u0645\u064e \u0643\u064e\u0641\u064e\u0649 \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0644\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0621\u0650 \u0643\u064e\u0630\u0650\u0628\u064b\u0627 \u0623\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u064a\u064f\u062d\u064e\u062f\u0651\u0650\u062b\u064e \u0628\u0650\u0643\u064f\u0644\u0651\u0650 \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0633\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0639\u064e<\/span>\n\n\u201cIt is enough of a lie for someone to narrate all that he hears\u201d. <\/span><\/i>\n\nSahih Muslim<\/i><\/strong><\/blockquote>\nThe great companion, Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, also said, that a word in the time of <\/span>Fitnah <\/span><\/i>(tribulation) is as destructive as a sword.<\/span>\n\nAnd lastly, if you do find yourself guilty of sharing false information, make sure to not only delete what you\u2019ve posted but even try your best to rectify what you\u2019ve done by letting people know of the error. <\/span>\n\nThe hallmark of a Muslim should be his honesty and trustworthiness, don\u2019t ever let the madness of the world we live in today jeopardise that for you.<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
