\u201cAn intelligent or wise person is not he who knows the difference between the good and evil, <\/span>\n\nRather the intelligent one is he who knows the best of two goods and the worst of two evils\u201d <\/span><\/blockquote>\nThis is a great lesson, and these words have great wisdom <\/span>\n\nWe have to interpret and explain it further <\/span>\n\nWhat is Omar saying?<\/span>\n\nIbn Al-Khattab is saying, the intelligent one who differentiates that which is good from that which is evil<\/span>\n\nBecause that is easy, a child can sometimes tell you that, or a person with little knowledge knows that <\/span>\n\nBut the intelligent person according to Omar <\/span>\n\nKnows priorities <\/span>\n\nHe would calculate things <\/span>\n\nSometimes pushing away the evil can be better than bringing what\u2019s a good closer<\/span>\n\nThis is a cornerstone in understanding the purpose and priorities of matters<\/span>\n\nTo be able to compare the best of two goods and the worst of two evils <\/span>\n\nSome evils are less than others<\/span>\n\nSo I sometimes might have to choose the lesser evil<\/span>\n\nSubhan\u2019Allah <\/span>\n\nYou should never intend to pick the evil, but sometimes it is inevitable <\/span>\n\nAnd one must make a choice<\/span>\n\nAnd this extends to choosing what is good as well <\/span>\n\nYou have to look and wisely choose that which is better of the two goods <\/span>\n\nWhich option is going to bring more benefit to you and others? <\/span>\n\nSo one must prioritise and choose carefully \u00a0<\/span>\n\nAnd be smart about their choices<\/span>\n\nA believer has to be smart about such matters <\/span>\n\nTherefore, the intelligent or wise person is not he who knows the difference between the good and evil, <\/span>\n\nRather the real intelligent one, for Omar, the scholars and righteous people, is he who knows how to calculate and choose the best of two goods and the worst of two evils. <\/span>\n\nMay Allah place us amidst the circle of good and amongst the people of good <\/span>\n\nAnd May He open the doors of good for us <\/span>\n\nAnd make us from those who promote good and prevent evil.<\/span>\n\nAmeen. <\/span>\n\nWassalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah <\/span>\n\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
