Jumuah Is The Spiritual Anchor Week to Week<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jumuah is a congregational prayer that Muslims hold every Friday instead of the Zuhr prayer. <\/span> These are some of the most common mistakes in Jumuah<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the khutbah<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet <\/span>\ufdfa warned us that <\/span>one should not speak during the Khutbah even if it is to tell someone to be quiet. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allah’s Messenger \ufdfa said, <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act.”<\/span><\/p>Sahih Bukhari<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Being distracted during the sermon<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet \ufdfa warned us that being distracted during the sermon will nullify our rewards, one should keep quiet and listen attentively when the Imam speaks.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne who distracts himself with pebbles during the Khutbah will not get the (Jumu’ah) reward”<\/span><\/p>Sahih Muslim<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Working during the Friday Prayer<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A common obstacle we face when trying to attend the Friday prayer<\/a> is our responsibilities at work. Allah \ufdfb commands us in Surah Al-Jumuah to stop working and attend prayer when the adhan is called.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and <\/span>leave trade<\/b>. That is better for you, if you only knew.<\/span>“<\/p>Quran 62:9<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Arriving late<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet \ufdfa<\/strong> said, “On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosque to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon.” <\/span><\/p>Sahih Bukhari<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

As well as being <\/span>fard <\/span><\/i>(obligatory) Jumuah is a means of forgiveness of sins.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allah’s Messenger \ufdfa said:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiations for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins.”<\/span><\/p>Sahih Muslim<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Not wearing your best and cleanest clothes<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet \ufdfa always wore his best and cleanest clothes for Jumuah and advised others to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid”<\/p>Quran 7:31<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is nothing wrong with any one of you, if he can afford it, buying two garments for Friday, other than his daily work clothes.\u201d <\/span><\/p>Sunan Ibn Majah<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
