These practices are actually the opposite of what this holy month should be about, for Ramadan is the month of fasting and actually experiencing hunger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s not ruin the Ramadan experience by overeating at Iftar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not only against the Sunnah but it will really slow down your ability to pray in the night let alone to pray Fajr. You see not only is overeating a severe cause of fatigue, but it also goes against the teachings of the Prophet \ufdfa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prophet \ufdfa said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cMan does not fill any container that is worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat what will support his back. If this is not possible, then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/tirmidhi\/36\/77\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tirmidhi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramadan is about feeling the pangs of hunger so we can empathise with the poor and the hungry, and overeating at Iftar defies the cleansing process that Allah wants us to have during these blessed days. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prophet<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (\ufdfa) has also said,<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><strong> &#8220;A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food), and a kafir (unbeliever) or a hypocrite eats in seven intestines (eats too much).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/bukhari\/70\/25\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bukhari<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So let\u2019s stick to simple meals this month and #ReviveRamadan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>See more in our <a href=\"https:\/\/onepathnetwork.com\/au\/ramadan\/\">RamadanHub!<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overeating during Iftar For many Muslims the month of Ramadan is the month of food, feasting and dinner parties.
