{"id":11140,"date":"2018-05-17T13:49:47","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T13:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onepathnetwork.com\/?p=11140"},"modified":"2021-07-16T11:48:54","modified_gmt":"2021-07-16T11:48:54","slug":"revive-ramadhan-hasten-to-break-the-fast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onepathnetwork.com\/au\/spirituality\/revive-ramadhan-hasten-to-break-the-fast\/","title":{"rendered":"Revive Ramadan &#8211; Hasten to Break the Fast"},"content":{"rendered":"<amp-jwplayer layout=\"flex-item\" height=\"600\" data-player-id=\"bKajWAhe\" width=\"700\" data-media-id=\"eWbLNWfj\" class=\"wp-block-amp-amp-jwplayer\"><\/amp-jwplayer><h1><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do I need to Hasten to Break my Fast When I Hear the Adhan?<\/span><\/i><\/h1>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know it\u2019s actually more virtuous to hasten to break your fast, as opposed to delaying it?<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: Allah&#8217;s Messenger (\ufdfa) said, <\/span>\n<blockquote><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast.&#8221; <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/bukhari\/30\/64\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bukhari<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/blockquote>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you may think you would get more reward for enduring your hunger by delaying your Iftar &#8211; it\u2019s actually the total opposite. <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, there are a number of reasons why we should hasten to break the fast beside it being Sunnah:<\/span>\n\n&nbsp;\n<ul>\n \t<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be different from the Jews: \u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) said: \u00a0<\/span><\/b>\n<blockquote><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The people will remain upon goodness so long as they hasten to break the fast. Hasten to break the fast, for the Jews delay it.&#8221;<\/span><\/b><b> <\/b>\n\n<b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/urn\/1271010\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ibn Majah<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\n<\/span><\/b><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n \t<li>So as not to make the day longer and take from the night. Allah wishes us ease, not a hardship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n&nbsp;\n<ul>\n \t<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is kinder to the fasting person and gives him more strength for worship. Eating a healthy, light meal for iftar will give you the ability to perform Taraweeh (night prayers) without feeling too full or tired from overeating<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To hasten to eat that which Allah has permitted for him, for Allah is generous and the one who is generous likes to see people enjoying his generosity. So Allah likes His slaves to hasten to enjoy that which He has permitted to them as soon as the sun sets. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n&nbsp;\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And in case you\u2019re wondering what to break your fast with &#8211; it\u2019s narrated that the Prophet \ufdfa used to break his fast before praying with some fresh dates. \u00a0But if he didn\u2019t have any dates, he \ufdfa would break his fast with water.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anas bin Malik narrated: <\/span>\n<blockquote><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The Messenger of Allah \ufdfa would break the fast with fresh dates before performing Salah. If there were no fresh dates then (he would break the fast) with dried dates, and if there were no dried dates then he would take a few sips of water.&#8221; <\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnah.com\/tirmidhi\/8\/15\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tirmidhi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/blockquote>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This hadith shows the lengths the Prophet \ufdfa would go to in order to break the fast on time.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So as soon as it has been established that the sun has set, grab your dates and hasten to break your fast. #ReviveRamadan.<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do I need to Hasten to Break my Fast When I Hear the Adhan?
